How To: How to use clear stamps

Basics

What you need

■ Clear stamp: Here we use `` 365: NIPPON .''

■ Acrylic blocks
Acrylic blocks come in a variety of sizes, but as long as the stamp you want to use fits, it's fine. For those who are unsure of which size to get, we often say "bigger is better." If you have one very large acrylic block, you can reuse it. However, if you use an acrylic block that is too large to stamp small patterns or alphabets, it will not be stable and it will be difficult to stamp. Smaller acrylic blocks are particularly easy to use and are recommended.

■ Ink
Each ink has its own compatibility with the paper, so please try to find your favorite ink. I would like to talk about ink in another blog post.

■ Paper

■ To ensure that you can enjoy your wet tissue clear stamp for a long time, we recommend that you wipe off any remaining ink with an alcohol-free wet tissue after use.

1. Peel off the clear stamp
Peel the clear stamp from the sheet.

2. Attach to acrylic block

The smooth side is the side that will stick to the block. If the stamp has a large print surface, place the smooth side up and then place the block on top to ensure it will stick straight.

3. Applying ink
You can hold the acrylic block over the ink pad, but if the stamp surface is large, I recommend holding the ink pad over the acrylic block. This is because the ink will be applied evenly to the stamp surface and won't get on unnecessary areas.

4. Stamp
Hold the acrylic block horizontally on the table and stamp. If it is wobbly, you will not be able to stamp neatly, so the key is to hold the acrylic block with both hands to keep it stable. Also, if you stamp with too little or too much pressure, the stamp will not come out neatly. As you get used to it, you will naturally learn to use just the right amount of pressure.

5. Put away your clear stamps
After using a clear stamp, wipe it with an alcohol-free wet tissue. If you leave ink remaining on the stamp surface, the next time you stamp with a different ink, the color may not come out beautifully or the stamp may deteriorate.

4. Stamp
After wiping it clean, put the clear stamp back in its original place. If you leave it there, dust and other particles will accumulate on the clear stamp, weakening its adhesive power and causing it to deteriorate.
If the adhesive strength weakens, wash it gently with water or lukewarm water and be sure to dry it.
