Sakuralala ʻOhana

Sakuralala

I've loved scrapbooking and memory keeping since before Sakurala La started in 2013. At first, I would just work alone or take online classes, but one day I heard that my favorite designer was going to hold a workshop in Hawaii, and I applied with excitement. I think I was more nervous about attending alone than excited to meet a designer I admired. I felt a little down on the day of the workshop, and the stairs leading to the venue seemed so long.

But the moment I opened that door was when it all began.

Meeting my favorite designer and spending creative time with people who share the same hobbies and interests as me - everything was so stimulating and fun that I almost wanted to skip, and I returned home feeling so happy and excited.

That day was the start of my making many good friends. I'm now friends with my favorite designer and his family. I think Sakurala La is what it is today because of that day.

Like me that day, I often hear happy stories of people making lifelong friends through workshops, events and meetups hosted by Sakurala. That's a really wonderful thing, isn't it?

Sakuralala Meet up

(...that introduction is quite long) After moving to Japan, I felt even more strongly that I wanted to continue working to develop the community, and the time has finally come!

Workshops tend to be in the format of "instructor" and "participants," while events tend to be in the format of "exhibitor (company)" and "customer," so I get the impression that the meeting ends just before the two parties become friendly with each other. (Of course, we are also considering holding workshops and events!)

Rather than that, we envision it as a relaxed gathering place where you can spend time with friends you normally talk to on Instagram, meet new people, and spend fun, creative time with people who share the things you like . People who are using clear stamps for the first time are also welcome, and it would be great if it could become a place of exchange and conversation for people who love stationery, planner users, and all kinds of other people, to exchange information and have fun chatting!

I'd like to meet once or twice a month, but it's not like a workshop or event, and I don't know how many people will be interested. Since we're starting out by trial and error, I hope you'll overlook some of the inconsistencies, but I'd be happy if we could find the best way to do it together and create a wonderful community.

And as for this "community/gathering/meet-up," we named it "Sakuralala ʻOhana," which means "family" in Hawaiian, with the hope that it will expand the circle of people!
